AI Essentials in Education: Tools, Ethics, and Collaboration (AI-Ed)

Co-developed by Joni Gutierrez, Ph.D. (Founder of CHAIRES) and CHAIRES Fellow Ronald Lethcoe, M.Ed., Co-Chairs of the eLearning Council (eLC) AI Task Force, AI Essentials in Education – Tools, Ethics, and Collaboration – commonly referred to as AI-Ed – is a system-wide Canvas micro-course designed for faculty and staff across all 34 Washington community and technical colleges.
The course provides a practical foundation in AI literacy and ethics—establishing a shared vocabulary, exploring responsible tools and practices, and fostering collaboration for navigating the evolving landscape of human–AI integration in education.
